Start Selling Your Product or Idea OnlineThis guide will give a straight forward look at how to set up a product or idea that you would like sell on the internet. When I say selling your idea, it can come in the form of a book on sales techniques, a gardener’s guide to growing flowers, or just about any other topic you think people would be willing to pay. I have been doing this for a few years now, both selling tangible goods as well as selling my ideas, and there are pro’s and con’s to both. Although it may take you a few weeks to make your first sale, the process it fairly simple. This guide contains the methods I use, and I believe it can work for anyone. Enough with the talk, let’s jump right in.Convert your idea into a product you can sellThis may not apply if you are selling a tangible good, as it is ready for consumers as is. But, if you are looking to sell and idea or service you will need to put it in a format that will be easily deliverable using the internet. There are many options available to you, but I strongly suggest the finished product is converted into an Adobe PDF file. This will allow your customers to view your product using Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is widely used and free to download. Your first step, as well as the longest, will be to author the document that explains your idea or service, as this will become your product. Microsoft word is one option to create your initial draft with. Word is easy to use and the majority of computers will have the Microsoft Office Suite installed when you purchase a PC. It is certainly not a requirement though, as you can use any text editor that you have available. After all, your only requirement for selling an idea is for your customers to have a readable document. Depending on how creative you want to get you can add images, a logo, or other non-text items, but you may find Word to be cumbersome. You can certainly have someone else create your logo and other images, and then resize those images to fit within your text. Once you have a completed document, your product, then you will need to convert it into a PDF file. In order to convert your document you will need to purchase a product that will do so. You cannot convert a Word document into a PDF file using Word alone.
